“Home”

Without the happy ever afters,
the promises and
the pressures to hit home run,

let’s find out more about this world,
yourself after winter;
once frozen, now flowing freer than ever.

You’re now more than
a shadow of your former self,
a rusty metal man lacking for a heart,

a dancer with new pointe shoes, a nightingale
ready to sing again, a little boy prepared
to play with poetry one more time.
